Finn LeMarinel - Songwriting and Storytelling
The first solo artist to come into our Studio Sessions is one of our absolute favourites. Finn LeMarinel has been making waves on the Glasgow unplugged circuit for the last four years. He released his debut album Violence on SAY Award -winner, RM Hubbert’s label ‘Ubisano’ before following up with the critically acclaimed EP ‘Love is Waves’.
With his knitted jumper and humble demeanour, Finn would wrongly be dismissed as yet another gentle shoe-gazing songwriter. Instead, his quiet confidence and effortless story-telling lyrics, married with such a pure vocal style, make for a mesmerising package. The studio fell silent, while Finn captivated us with his performance (as well as inciting a singalong of 90's R'n'B classics).
His opening track for our session takes us on a percussive, melodious journey: the as yet unreleased Control.
Finn comes into our Studio having played extensively this summer, headlining the Acoustic Stage at Mugstock, as well as appearing at Pronto Mama’s Beatnik Retreat and the Kintyre Songwriter’s Festival .
The title track from Finn’s EP, Love is Waves, is the second of our recorded performances. We also spoke to Finn about how he crafts his music and got a fascinating insight into his songwriting process.
