Hot 8 Brass Band - Can't Nobody Get Down

Rock with the Hot 8? Try and stop me!

Label: Tru Thoughts

This Grammy-nominated group blend hip-hop, jazz and funk, cooking it up with traditional New Orleans brass and serve it up with so much groove, sass and infectious energy that you simply can’t resist second helpings.

Following on from last years release; Vicennial – 20 Years Of The Hot 8 Brass Band this new EP delivers new tracks as well as 2 remixes of their infamous Sexual Healing cover (as featured in the Chef original motion picture soundtrack) one by London reggae/dub producer Wrongtom, and the other by Roy Cooper (featuring Israeli vocalist Smadar Akray) that adds a distinctive house flavour to this Marvin Gaye classic.

A new cover of Stevie Wonder’s “That Girl” is a treat from the band whose unique versions of Ghost Town and Papa Was A Rolling Stone amongst others are fan favourites.

UK and Europe tour  is underway this summer. If you are lucky enough to see them live then you will witness first hand the passion and energy that oozes out of them. Despite the tragedies that have hit this band in the last two decades (violent deaths of a number of their members, the displacement and devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina) this band continue to raise the roof with their upbeat, positive, feel good music.
