The Vegan Leather - Synth-Pop and Mirrorballs

BY OJM

As part of Vic Galloway’s ‘Artists to Watch 2016,’ The Vegan Leather started the year as they meant to go on.

Playing the legendary T Break Stage at this year’s T in the Park, as well headlining a sold out King Tut’s as part of their Summer Nights Festival, the art-pop quartet have continued to turn heads with their eccentric, infectious tunes and visually impressive performance style.

It’s no surprise that we were excited to welcome them for a Studio Session.

To kick things off the band play Days Go By from their EP, 'This House.’ Founder and frontman, Gianluca talks to us about the origins of his Gary Numan-esque project and its eventual (and necessary) development into a band.

"Vegetarian leather didn’t roll off the tongue as well. So I used that [Vegan] and it stuck." - Gianluca

The Paisley four-piece have picked comparisons with the likes of Talking Heads and cite bands such as LCD Soundsystem and Metronomy amongst their influences. However, there is an altogether unique feel to their brand of sample-rich synth-pop: This House, the lead single from the EP, goes a long way to demonstrating this.
